I started making these cookies a few years back for a charity event and called them "Chef Mik's Ooey Gooey Rich and Chewy Oatmeal Cookies". This event gradually led to us baking them to order which in turn ultimately led to selling them in our café and corporate
lunch gigs they are super simple to make and taste really good!
Now I use butterscotch and mixed dried fruit in my cookies but
if you are a traditionalist by all means go with raisins and chocolate chips, I
am a big nut fan so of course I am adding nuts to my cookies but this is by no
means mandatory
A note about oat meal: make sure to purchase quick cooking
rolled oats or else you are in for a long day filled with disappointment and
heartbreak
